With so much news and insight to talk about, Whitecroft needed expert comms help to draw out the messages and stories to support its ambitious plans for growth.
Raise awareness of the principles and benefits of circularity and sustainability in commercial lighting, and the compelling business case for customers.
Whitecroft Lighting is one of the UK’s leading commercial lighting manufacturers and is a trusted supplier to the likes of hospitals, universities, schools, office spaces, facilities management, and retail – plus a range of other commercial environments.
Such is the level of Whitecroft’s design and manufacturing capability, the company has built an enviable reputation for custom lighting design and innovation.
This includes multifunctional lighting for teaching, blended smart lighting for adjustable open plan offices and LEDs designed to meet the unique needs and standards of the nuclear power industry.
In recent years Whitecroft has become a pioneer in reducing waste and materials, such as plastics, through using the principles of circularity – reuse, replacement, and recycling.
This significant investment has given the company a unique competitive advantage, and Whitecroft is at the forefront of the measurement and reduction of embodied carbon in mechanical and electrical services.
There was so much to talk about, but Whitecroft needed help to define and effectively communicate its stories of excellence to new and existing customers.
Whitecroft Lighting’s communications challenge is not uncommon. Because it was so commercially successful, it needed help to shape its comms activity to achieve impact with its target audiences, prioritise key messages and how best to share them.
We identified the company’s strengths and the people who could talk about them, such as Tim Bowes, Whitecroft’s circularity expert, and numerous project managers.
We positioned Tim as a trusted thought-leader on circularity, sustainability and whole life carbon reduction in M&E – particularly embodied carbon.
This started with a series of crafted blogs from Tim on proposed embodied carbon legislation, which led to Tim then engaging directly with the media at the annual Futurebuild tradeshow.
Frontier PR used Tim’s new profile to generate high-value media coverage, which we also used to create engaging content for marketing.
Frontier PR also worked closely with Whitecroft’s customers and supply chain, gaining invaluable advocacy and opinion from influential industry figures, elevating the value of media coverage, and forming the basis of guest blogs and case studies.
By February 2024 Frontier PR had secured over 150 pieces of individual media coverage with an EAV of around half a million pounds.
This coverage included many of Whitecroft’s major projects, key markets and innovations, manufacturing processes, thought leadership and thoughts on carbon reduction.
Engagement with customers and the supply chain resulted in eight guest blogs, while Frontier PR has worked with more of Whitecroft’s in-house experts to produce numerous blogs and case studies.
Frontier PR also led Whitecroft Lighting’s award winning submission for the 2024 CIBSE Building Performance Award, with the company triumphing in the Manufacturer’s Embodied Carbon Award category.
Whitecroft’s Lighting’s public and market persona is now far more representative of its place as the leading innovator in UK commercial lighting design and manufacture.
