The reality is that for some organisations social networking can be a highly effective and cost efficient marketing tool – but for others it will offer limited or no value.  Which one are you?

The way to answer this question is to treat and evaluate the usefulness of social networking as you would any other communications channel and ask: who is your audience? Do they use and respect the medium? Can we contribute something of value to it i.e. will anyone be interested in what we have to say?

If the answer to these questions is ‘yes’ then it’s probably worth giving it a try.

Be consistent but sensible in your approach.  Building a presence and following through social networking takes time, so a little bit of time everyday is the best way to go, as committing time and money to any open ended process is never a good idea.
