The event is open to everyone from the community, regardless of age or ability, and admission is free.

Participants are encouraged to sign up via the Think Ahead website www.think-ahead.org.uk and follow the link to the Charity Challenge page. Entry to the 1 mile fun run or walk for all ages and abilities is free, and other activities on the day will include an assault course, mini football tournaments, BMX cycle track, climbing wall, archery, the ever-popular Tug of War contest, and lots, lots more.

Think Ahead Stroke Group operates across Wigan, Leigh and the surrounding area, working with Stroke Survivors, their Carers and families. They provide information, advice and support as well as organising suitable social activities for those affected by Stroke locally.

The spirit of friendly rivalry they have witnessed was the inspiration for the Charity Challenge which aims to offer something for everyone.

Mike Aspinall, Chairman of Think Ahead Stroke Group said: “Everyone at Think Ahead is really excited about the 2011 Charity Challenge, I appeal to all my fellow Wiganers to get signed up and do the town proud in Leigh!”

Mike continues: “By the community coming together and supporting Think Ahead at the Charity Challenge, not only are we able to raise awareness of Stroke and promote healthy living, but we can all have a fun-packed afternoon. I can’t wait!”

Linda Monaghan, Think Ahead team member and proud Leyther said: “I hope that everyone in Wigan will get behind the Charity Challenge, I’m sure they won’t want to end up on the losing side in Leigh!”
