South East housing providers to get Direct Payment insight

Social housing leadership forum Progress - leadership in housing has announced an event for South East housing organisations to be hosted by CityWest Homes in March.  The theme will be ‘Single Direct Payment – a Snapshot of the Future’.

Sponsored by Mobysoft, the award shortlisted leadership forum will focus on the imminent introduction of the Universal Credit benefit payment mechanism and what it will mean to the future of operations in the housing industry.

The event will give a unique insight into the short term implications of operating under the new system through firsthand experience, and will feature a keynote presentation from Kevin Dodd, Chief Executive of Wakefield and District Housing.

Wakefield was one of six housing organisations that took part in the Direct Payment Demonstration Project in June 2012, and Kevin will share his experiences six months down the line – offering a unique and highly valuable perspective of what to expect and how best to make final preparations.

Kevin said: “Taking part in the Direct Payment Demonstration Project has given Wakefield and District Housing an insight into the challenges that housing organisations will face over the coming months.  From my experience, Progress South East will be the ideal forum for sharing these perspectives”.

Mark Hoyland, Chief Executive of CityWest Homes, said: “We’re delighted to be hosting Progress South East.  The introduction of Universal Credit marks the biggest change to the benefits system in 60 years, so it is vital that valuable insights are shared with the social housing sector.”

Derek Steele, Managing Director of housing intelligence provider Mobysoft, said: “Mobysoft is proud to continue sponsoring Progress.  This event is particularly relevant as through the delivery of our RentSense solution, we are constantly engaging with housing providers on welfare reforms – in particular, how income teams can maintain rates of rent collection.”

The event is scheduled to take place on Thursday 14th March 2013, at CityWest Homes, 21 Grosvenor Place, London SW1X 7EA.

The cost of attendance is covered for senior housing management by sponsor Mobysoft. To register visit www.housing-events.co.uk
