Chowley Oak Business Park near Tattenhall, CheshireSeddon helps historic estate realise 21st century expansion plans

Builder and developer Seddon has been appointed by Bolesworth Estate to carry out a £2.6 million expansion of its flagship Cheshire business park.

Seddon is building an equine veterinary centre and a two storey office and distribution store as part of two phases of development at Chowley Oak Business Park.

The new buildings at Chowley, near Tattenhall, will reflect the style of existing offices and converted farm buildings, with work expected to be completed by March 2015.

Seddon is working closely with Bolesworth Estate and its tenants to deliver their specific requirements as both facilities have already been let. Cogent Breeding, a dairy breeding and testing company, will move into the two storey office and distribution store once complete.

Andrew Slaney, Operations Manager at Seddon, which has offices across the UK, said: “The expansion of Chowley Oak will not only create jobs in the local area, it will cement Bolesworth’s reputation as a leading provider of rural business space.

“We look forward to delivering the estate’s expansion plans and being part of the future of the facility.”

This new contract win comes shortly after Seddon was appointed to design and build Muse Development's City Place office block near Chester railway station.

“We have seen a significant upturn in our commercial pipeline of work in 2014. There has been a return of confidence to commercial lettings and our clients are investing in property again.

“Thanks to this improved confidence in the market, we look forward to growing our reputation for delivering high-quality and inspiring spaces for companies to work and thrive in,” said Slaney.

Bolesworth Estate has been owned by the Barbour family since 1856 and they have been at the forefront of diversification into rural business space. The estate currently has 140 commercial tenants across the estate’s 6,000 acres, which between them employ nearly 1,000 people.

Matthew Morris, Estate Manager at Bolesworth Estate, said: “We are delighted to be working with Seddon on this project at Chowley Oak.  We have a challenging timescale which Seddon is responding to with great enthusiasm.  Their team is professional and knowledgeable and is helping us to deliver what is a very exciting phase of growth for Bolesworth.”
