Hexagon Tower welcomes Randox Testing Services

Drug & Alcohol testing company expands operations to Manchester’s BEST Network Science Park

Leading international drug and alcohol testing company Randox Testing Services has expanded operations with a 6,500 sq ft laboratory at Hexagon Tower in Blackley, North Manchester.

As part of a drive to increase their global market share in providing forensic toxicology services – which already includes many household brands as clients – Randox chose to expand to Hexagon Tower to take advantage of its excellent transport links, state of the art facilities and the region’s heritage for scientific innovation.

Gary McCutcheon, Global Manager at Randox Testing Services, said: “Manchester ranks second in terms of metropolitan economies within the UK, but when you factor in its geographical location, it really becomes an obvious choice.

“Outstanding air, road and rail infrastructure makes it an ideal hub location to service the UK market and further afield. Looking towards the future with Manchester’s proud tradition of science and innovation, its universities offer a strong pool of quality graduates as we require expanding.”

Gary adds: “Randox Testing Services are excited to become a part of the BEST Network, opening further opportunities to collaborate with other innovators.”

Hexagon Tower is now part of the national Business Environments for Science and Technology (BEST) Network, the largest portfolio of privately owned science parks in the UK.

Assembled and managed by LaSalle Investment Management, the BEST Network consists of six parks ranging from Scotland to the south coast, and contains both geographical and network-wide clusters in some of the UK’s highest-growth sectors - ranging from biomedical and chemical to technology and agriculture.

Science and technology enterprises operating at Hexagon Tower, such as Randox, are able to take advantage of portfolio’s national network to access advice on public funding, private investment and lobbying, which incorporates Government bodies, sector advocacy associations and universities from across the UK.

Companies operating at the facility will also benefit from an infrastructure of knowledge and expertise, with tenants being given the opportunity to commercialise their innovations by working closely expert business consultants alongside being provided with a national voice on related issues and enhanced trade links to international markets.

Chris Mitchell, Associate Director at LaSalle Investment Management, said: “Randox are exactly the right type of high-growth tenant suited for Hexagon Tower – innovative and ambitious.

“LaSalle’s £2 million investment in Hexagon Tower to date has modernised the facility into a high-quality, specialist environment with a vibrant and forward thinking community for pioneering businesses.”

Chris adds: “We hope Randox begin a fruitful new chapter at Hexagon Tower, and look forward to playing a role in the success of many more innovative science and technology companies joining BEST Network locations in the future.”
