Frontier Working on Southway Energy Project

South Manchester social landlord Southway Housing Trust, has appointed Frontier Public Relations to manage the development of a public relations strategy for a major domestic energy efficiency project.

Southway Housing Trust has been awarded £1.95 million by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), towards the large scale reduction of carbon emissions from domestic heating in on one of the landlord’s largest neighbourhoods, in Charlton-cum-Hardy.

Southway Housing Trust, which owns and manages around 6,000 homes mostly across South Manchester, will oversee the installation of 400 low-carbon, renewable heat solutions in 400 homes - supported by investment from Electricity North West.

Frontier Public Relations has been appointed to ensure that public relations not only supports the successful delivery of the ERDF energy project, but also considers how Southway Housing Trust will engage with and share valuable knowledge with key regional stakeholders and the housing and energy sectors.

Frontier PR Managing Director David Innes-Edwards said: “This project really is Frontier PR’s sweet-spot, after so many years working in housing, property technology and domestic heat, so we’re looking forward to using our knowledge and experience to help set this project off in the best possible direction.

“I see Southway’s investment in ensuring that PR correctly supports the whole of this nationally relevant energy efficiency project as a really positive step that will deliver return on investment for years to come.

”Matt Roberts, Southway Housing Trust said; “We’re delighted to have Frontier PR involved, as this is an ambitious and innovative project that can have a positive impact not only for the environment and local people, but also the wider housing sector.

“Public relations has a big role to play on a number of levels, as increased awareness and education around this project should help to build and share knowledge and good practice, and support the roll out of low-carbon energy solutions across Greater Manchester and beyond.”
