The process culminated with the final five shortlisted entries participating in a Grand Prix Event at UMIC’s Core Technology Facility.
The standard was extremely high and selecting and matching prizes with winners proved to be challenging, but very enjoyable.  But after presentations, questioning and much deliberation, Frontier PR’s David selected aviation emotions modelling software FLIGHT.

David is delighted with the result: “FLIGHT is the perfect company for Frontier PR to work with: new, innovative, clean-tech and market ready – it really does tick all our boxes.  The challenge will now be to engage with flight’s management and establish how best to take it to market.

UMIC’s Head of Sales and Marketing Tony Walker said: “The first LCEC has been a great success, and the Grand Prix was a fitting finale.  The five shortlisted ideas were all very different in character and is a reflection of the depth, high-quality and diverse nature of the low-carbon research currently being developed within the University of Manchester.”

Tony continues: “Manchester was the cradle of the industrial revolution – and I’m confident that through a combination of world class academic research and commercial ventures Manchester can contribute to an industrial resolution.”

Tony concludes: “A big thank you to Frontier PR and the other sponsors for taking part – I sure they will make a big contribution to assisting the winners develop commercially.”
